Mary and Stuart Thomas, owners of Allstate: Thomas & Thomas Agencies (with branches in Roanoke, Danville, Martinsville, and Hardy), are long-time SML enthusiasts. In fact, growing up, their individual families would frequent the lake to enjoy all the recreational opportunities found around here. 

Stuart is from Martinsville, Mary, from Altavista, and they each knew that they wanted to retire at Smith Mountain Lake before they had even met one another! Isn't it amazing when dreams come true? In their case, even sooner than they had hoped! The Thomases bought their home here at Smith Mountain Lake 19 years ago. Not long after, they opened the Westlake branch of their agency, and enjoyed living the part-time life for a decade along with their now-grown children. 

Around five years ago, they began intentionally sending their roots more deeply into this community that they are grateful to now call their full-time residence. A massive home renovation took place, and you may have seen the beautiful result of Mary's hobbyist designer skills if you visited their house on this year's Charity Home Tour!

Helping Hands was their home's beneficiary, and they were so excited to partner with an organization that they have personally supported over the years. Mary loves how Helping Hands is so integrated into each community they serve and as such, can identify very specific local needs for emergency financial aid.

In their free time, Stuart enjoys playing golf and is an avid walker/runner - clocking over twelve miles most days! A few years ago, Mary wanted to gain more confidence on the water, so she joined the She-Doos. In addition to achieving her original goal, she has grown to really love both the social aspect and the community involvement that the She-Doos are known for. Together, the Thomases also enjoy traveling with friends and family.

The Thomas & Thomas Agency, at Westlake, offers the full range of coverage, including home, auto, boat, umbrella, and small watercraft policies. It is managed by Ashley Wood, who has been with the company for over 13 years! She is always more than happy to sit down with you one-on-one, or just chat via phone to discuss your insurance needs.
