The act of readying oneself and one's home for the weekend
“Fridaying” is a concept I first adopted during quarantine - when we were stuck at home 24/7 and weekdays were blending into weekends without any kind of anticipatory definition. What started as a coping mechanism though, soon became a regular part of my life that now helps me really look forward to the R&R that weekends have the potential to bring. Fridaying just practically helps that potential become a reality!
Here is my present-day Fridaying list:
Quick tidy of the house - no deep cleaning, just a swipe dust, vacuum, and bathroom refresh
Check all refillable containers: soap dispensers, sprays, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, etc.
Change out bedsheets and towels
Blow off outdoor decks and porches - wipe down porch furniture
Change wax melts in tart burners
Make fresh flower bouquets for the house (The Suffolk Nest has wonderfully relaxing floral design videos every Friday on Instagram)
Plan and shop for a "cocktail of the weekend" to try
Sometimes I'll make a big casserole or salad to graze off of to help minimize time in the kitchen
The overall goal of Fridaying is to prepare your home to “host” you for the weekend, so that you are able to more fully relax and enjoy quality time with your loved ones in a fresh and welcoming environment.
The gift of a true day off is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. 10/10 recommend.
