Wedding celebrant Holley Scheffel offers her services for happy couples tying the knot at Smith Mountain Lake.

“I've been lucky in love myself and being part of somebody's special day is such a very sweet thing.” says Scheffel. The former English teacher calls Huddleston home, splitting her time between their main residence on the water, and when it's rented out in the summertime, a nearby marina where they own a 5th wheel. Having purchased their home in 2017, faithfully making the weekend commute from northern Virginia to log their lake hours, this past summer Holley finally moved down for good.

She loves the paradise that is SML, and believes it is a perfect setting for a truly magical day. So many brides and grooms plan a destination wedding to our area without having connections to a specific church or pastor. This can certainly bring added stress into the planning process. But in addition to acting as officiant, Holley is a wealth of area information and referrals to help you find vendors that line up well with your vision.

She describes her business as a boutique service. Available for travel all over the lake to your chosen ceremony location, she knows that no order of service is one-size-fits-all. Each is fully customized to suit the couple's personalities. She offers a library of scripts and styles to choose from or to simply use as a jumping off point for crafting your own. She can guide couples through the details, and even help with the wording if need be (remember that English teacher background?!).
