Memorial Cherry Blossoms

One recent afternoon, thanks to a tip from Chris (of Eagle's Eye Photography) I headed out to the D-Day Memorial to revel in the cherry blossoms! The Yoshino varieties were blooming mid-March, but the Kwanzans are a later-spring treat that is still to come. If you love the Tidal Basin in DC and the swaths of cherries that embrace it, I think you'll enjoy this mini display right in our backyard. Visiting the Memorial is always such a moving experience, adding the backdrop of the petal laden trees that were delicately "snowing" with each spring zephyr just seemed to somehow heighten the poignancy.
