Emily Peters and her mom, Renee Bowman, have been spreading vases-full of joy throughout our community since 2014. What began as a little project to keep a restless 10-year-old busy, has blossomed into a micro-farm that produces a stunning array of cut flowers from May through October.
Located on a scenic piece of land once carpeted by undulating fields of corn, the ladies of Simply Daisies have worked hard to nurture the earth back to a fertile canvas on which they grow rows of colorful annuals and a stunning patch of old-fashioned peonies.
Over the years, their style and flower selections have evolved to keep up with customer preference. In bouquets, cottage garden favorites mingle with harder-to-find specialty varieties such as lisianthus and dahlias - together, creating a classic, timeless feel. The farm offers grab-and-go options along with custom orders (bouquets, table arrangements, etc.) and DIY buckets overflowing with seasonal mixed blooms. The bucket trend is so popular right now amongst bridal/baby showers or any other floral-loving friend gathering. Besides providing an activity where everyone gets to create their own masterpiece, it also doubles as a thoughtful favor!
This year, Simply Daisies is introducing a season-long CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. As someone who must have fresh flowers in my home at all times, I love the idea of a subscription that results in a locally grown bouquet every other week for six months! Would this not make the best Valentine's Day gift in the history of ever??!!! I mean, I'd purchase it as an act of love for myself. ♥ Knowing just how much of a mood-booster it is each time I catch a glimpse of the bouquet sitting on my coffee table, a CSA share is the very definition of a gift-that-keeps-on-giving.
Sign up is available now through March 30th (or until all slots are full), so don't delay. The cost is $250. Pick-up locations have not yet been announced but will be determined based on where participants live.

Beginning in May, you will find bouquets for purchase in their Flower Farmstand located at: 3437 Alean Rd., Boones Mill (just a few miles off 116), Monday-Saturday from 9-5. They also stock Melvin's Farm to Fork Store weekly and have a stall at the South County Farmers Market in Roanoke on Fridays.
Right now, the ladies of Simply Daisies are keeping busy mulching and composting ahead of spring ranunculus season, covering rows with silage tarps to suppress winter weed growth, and dividing dahlia tubers as they prepare for another year of growing beauty to send out into the world!
