Water

By: Kristin Dunker

I was born by the sea on a cold December day. And though I haven't always lived near the water I've always, always been inexplicably drawn to it. The form doesn't matter…a trickling stream, a meandering river, a placid mountain lake, a rushing gorge, a boisterous rocky coastline (I do love a good boisterous rocky coastline), turquoise glacial pools, clear Caribbean bays… When I am near the water, I feel as though every atom in my body is reawakening. As though I'd been merely surviving prior and then being back alongside this powerful life-source reminds me what “fully awake” actually is. The water is my friend. My guide. My comforter. My healer. My home.
